The Open Innovation Day is an annual event targeting leading executives and innovation managers with the purpose to spread knowledge on the latest research and best practices in open innovation. The Open Innovation Day is managed by the Open Innovation Forum and the 2012 event is hosted by Uppsala University in collaboration with the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems (VINNOVA).

Bror Salmelin on European innovationBror is Policy Advisor on innovation to the European Committee and the Manager of the Open Innovation Strategy and Policy Group (OISPG). He is also one of the founders of the European Network of Living Labs and a general specialist in innovation policy.

The talk covers drivers for merging open innovation with the penta-helix innovation model. Focus is on how to make Europe the best place for innovation in modern society. The work of the Open Innovation Strategy and Policy Group is illustrated, as well as success stories with examples.
